About

Janette Holcomb (now Mallyon), is a later career change professional historian, having worked extensively in the (primarily) public sector. She obtained her PhD in the field of Australian colonial maritime history from the University of New England in 2009. Jan was awarded a NSW Premier's History Fellowship in 2009, to undertake research for a book on Australia's early business history. She published her book, Early Merchant Families of Sydney. Opportunities and Risk Management on the Fringes of Empire, through Australian Scholarly Publishing, in 2013.
