How do you begin to bring Aboriginal people into your histories? Who do you approach, what do you ask, how do you negotiate custodianship and when do you pass authorship to Community? Join us for this panel with three historians who offer practical, political and personal histories of working with and for Aboriginal people. They will share tips, lessons and respectful approaches to help foster new skills and further our shared goals of reconciliation.

Moderated by Matt Poll from the Australian National Maritime Museum, our panel includes:

  • Dr Mariko Smith, curator of Unsettled at the Australian Museum
  • Dr Stephen Gapps, author of The Sydney Wars and Gudyarra: The First Wiradyuri War of Resistance
  • Professor Emerita Heather Goodall, author of From Invasion to EmbassyRivers and Resilience (with Allison Cadzow) and Making Change Happen (with Kevin Cook)

$15 general admission

Informal drinks afterwards at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel
