Biography

Dr Srishti Guha holds a PhD in History from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She has research interests in visual culture, digital archives, socio-cultural history, and First Nations history. Her doctoral research was a transcolonial study of visual culture and iconography in India and Australia from 1860 to 1940. She has worked on the ways in which digitisation has changed the visual archive, particularly when working with culturally sensitive images of First Nations people. She has forthcoming articles in Labour History and History Australia. As a Research Assistant on an Australian Research Council project 'Ayahs and Amahs: Transcolonial Servants in Australia and Britain 1780–1945', she has worked on an online exhibition that won the Addi Road Award for Multicultural History, History Council, New South Wales and was shortlisted for the Digital History Prize, New South Wales Premier’s History Awards. Her own research won the ISCH (International Society for Cultural History) Prize for best conference presentation by an early career researcher. She was previously the Submissions Editor of the Limina journal for historical and cultural studies.
