Reminds me of the ‘Explorers marked tree’ – thought to be a no brainer for one of the top 10 heritage sites back in the 1970s initial listings and then found to have possibly been carved by a wag in the mid-19thC, but eventually still listed due to its social significance, widely believed for so long to have been carved by Wentworth & Co.
