Pauline Curby has worked as a freelance professional historian since the early 1990s and has undertaken consultancies in oral history, environmental history and heritage, as well as writing a number of commissioned histories. Her publication Randwick (Randwick City Council, 2009) won the NSW Premier’s Award (Regional and Community History), 2010. Pauline Curby was the recipient of the NSW History Fellowship, 2011, undertaking research on capital punishment in NSW, 1910-1939. She has conducted a number of significance assessments for library and museum collections and regularly conducts oral history workshops. Pauline Curby is a member of the Professional Historians Association (NSW & ACT), a councillor of the Royal Australian Historical Society and president of Sutherland Shire Historical Society. She edited this Society’s publication East Coast Encounters 1770, reflections on a cultural clash (2020) to mark 250 years since the first recorded contact between the people of Kamay Botany Bay and Europeans.
