Biography
TERRY KASS has specialised in heritage and conservation work since 1983 and has undertaken historical research and site assessments across NSW. He was principal consultant for the original Heritage Studies of Bankstown, Canterbury, Rockdale, and the City of Parramatta and author of Thematic Histories for numerous Local Government Areas across NSW. Terry has worked with Deposited Plans, Crown Plans and auction sale plans for many years. After many years prowling around the Land Titles Office, he promotes the value of these plans and land title records to amateur and academic historians and archaeologists by conducting workshops on how to use HLRV and the Land Registry website.
Awards for publications include the National Trust of Australia print award in 1997 for Parramatta: A Past Revealed, (joint author with Carol Liston and John McClymont), Parramatta City Council, 1996; the Phyllis Mander Jones Award, Australian Society of Archivists in 2009 for Jewels in the Crown: A History of the Bridge Street Plan Room and Crown Plans, NSW Dept of Lands, Bathurst, and 2020 for Unlocking Land: A Guide to Crown Land Records held at State Archives NSW.
